Switch off and recharge in this idyllic lodge on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, 2 miles from Okehampton. Sleeping four guests, it’s the perfect bolthole for couples and families who love getting out and about in nature. The area is awash with walking and cycling trails, and you can also get out on the water at Roadford Lake (14 miles). Days out from the lodge include Castle Drogo (14 miles) and Lydford Gorge (8.5 miles).

This enchanting lodge has a studio-style layout, allowing you to spend quality time with family and friends. The decor is sleek and contemporary, and the statement wood cladding connects the property with its rural surroundings. Along one wall is a stylish kitchen for rustling up delicious meals for the group, which you can share at the dining table or outside on the terrace. After dinner, retire to the inviting lounge area to catch up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. Two tranquil bedrooms complete the accommodation, along with a refreshing shower room. Outside, sip a sundowner on the terrace and take in your peaceful setting, or revive weary limbs with a soak in your private hot tub. Guests are also welcome to visit the onsite pub/restaurant.

Okehampton is a traditional market town with a fantastic array of independent shops and eateries. There’s also a fascinating museum in the town, detailing Dartmoor’s history, and a beautiful public park. The lodge sits at the foothills of Dartmoor National Park and there are some excellent walking routes to explore, including to the Park’s highest peak, High Willhays (10 miles). Another popular walking trail is the long-distance Granite Way, which you can join in Okehampton.

A great little place to stay, it was cosy, clean and easily accommodated our family of 4. It had lots of nice little touches and the coffee machine was a lovely home from home treat in the morning. The location was great and right in the middle to travel to different coastal towns. We will definitely be booking again for next year!

Family of 4, 2a, 2c (8&5) - Beautiful, quiet, cosy cabin in what felt like the middle of nowhere (but was actually just a mile or so from lots of local amenities). Very clean, warm and perfect for some much needed down time. Comfortable beds! Lovely touch having the games and jigsaws to do. Good WiFi. Thanks for having us!

Just got back from a week in Spindle Wood. It was wonderful. Three adults and a dog and everyone was catered for. My son at over 6ft, fitted in the single bed and was comfortable.
