  • This stunning lakeside lodge offers the perfect rural retreat set in beautiful gardens which guests are free to explore
  • One mile from the busy market town of South Molton and its range of shops, pubs and restaurants and within easy reach of the sandy beaches of Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe
Property code: OC-ISLVI

With wooded countryside surrounding it, this property a great rural escape for small families. It’s set away from the main farmhouse on the south side of the lake, carefully positioned to ensure privacy. Here you get the best of both worlds, with a quiet and rural setting that offers true peace and serenity, but with the market town of South Molton just 1 mile away.

The lodge-style property is accessed via three external steps, with the rooms all on a single storey. There’s an open-plan living area with plenty of space for a family of four; at night, it’s a cosy hideaway with a roaring stainless steel wood burner, great for those cooler evenings. The rooms have a light and airy feel, with wooden floors, archways leading from the living space, and neutral decor throughout.

Head into South Molton and explore the tempting chocolate factory or Quince Honey Farm - both great family trips, with the latter housing a cafe and children’s soft play area. Further afield, Exmoor National Park (5.5 miles) offers scenic walks and cycle ways which lead ‘over the border’ to neighbouring Somerset’s coastline. North Devon is home to an abundance of sandy beaches though, with Westward Ho! (21.5 miles) and Saunton (20 miles) just two that are within easy reach.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size and 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and WC, 1 en-suite shower room and WC
  • Small ornamental lake with lakeside garden and woodland garden in owner’s grounds which guests are free to explore

Wonderfully peaceful setting. Clean comfortable lodge. Superb grounds to walk around. Conveniently situated for a short trip to food shop or slightly further for beach or Exmoor countryside. Would definitely visit again.

A return visit which did not disappoint. The location is perfect for exploring the lovely market town of South Molton and easy access to the North Devon Coast. The lodge is located on a quiet road out of South Molton but walkable to the town where you will find a whole host of independent shops for browsing. Set in a beautiful spot opposite the lakRead moree and only a two minute walk from the owners gardens, which in the September sunshine were just glorious. Great place to relax in peace and quiet. Lovely lodge in a wonderful location. Lovely and roomy, clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and had a great holiday. We recommend Rachael's Tearoom in South Molton, the food is delicious and the service is wonderful.

We have visited this site every year since 2018, stayed in 3 out of the 4 lodges and all are fabulous. The peace and quiet is soothing for the soul yet you are so close to bustling towns and glorious beaches. Our favourite place to be!

This place is amazing whether you are into fishing or not. The chalet we stayed in was in such a lovely spot and had most stuff you'd have at home. Having filled the birdfeeders, breakfast time was also bird watching time. The lakes and gardens are glorious and we saw a couple of huge fish caught by some lucky fishers. Its peaceful, full of nature,Read more no light pollution and a real gem. Also close to town and a good base from which to explore North Devon. Highly recommend. Hope to stay again. Hide
