Wake up waterside at this cosy lodge, which is the perfect base for a North Devon escape. Surrounded by countryside and with an on-site three-acre lake, you’ll feel a million miles away from everyday life here, although if you wish to venture into a town, South Molton is close by. At the end of a busy day of either exploring or relaxing (or a bit of both) unwind on the decked terrace to the front of the property, glass of wine in hand, taking in the incredible views.
With views across the lake through the large windows, you’ll feel right on the water inside the lodge. It’s bright and airy throughout with an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, although fire up the wood burner and it becomes a cosy haven, perfect for a romantic evening in. Before you retire to the cosy sofas in the lounge area though, enjoy a BBQ on the terrace as the sun sets. The property is neutrally and tastefully decorated throughout, providing a real home away from home aesthetic that’ll be hard to say goodbye to.
If you can tear yourself away from the complex, you have both the coast and countryside waiting to be explored. Exmoor National Park (5 miles) is a haven for keen walkers, with a plethora of scenic routes taking you through wonderful flora and fauna. If you like to be beside the seaside, discover the string of sandy beaches on Devon’s north coast, including Saunton (20 miles), Westward Ho! (21.5 miles), and Woolacombe (27.5 miles), where you can enjoy a delicious curry on the beach in summer months.
