A steep climb down a zig-zag path takes you to idyllic Woody Bay, a little slice of the North Devon coast which makes you feel like you’ve been transported to a peaceful, exotic location! The shingle beach is studded with rocks and hugged by leafy cliffs, making it a scenic and interesting spot to visit. Take a wild dip in the Victorian bathing pool which is filled by the tide, a vestige of attempts to transform Woody Bay into a holiday resort. Luckily for today’s visitors, the bay remains a peaceful place, off the main tourist trail.

Close to the beach is Woody Bay Station, home to the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, where you can hop onboard a steam train for a 2-mile return trip, taking in the beautiful Exmoor views as you go.
